Daniel Uirab, a 28-year-old Namibian man, is appealing to the public for food so he can take his medication. Uirab lives with epilepsy, HIV and asthma, and says he cannot take his treatment on an empty stomach.
βI just want to take my medication,β he said in a plea reported by local media. Without adequate food, he risks missing doses of the drugs that manage his conditions.
His situation highlights the challenge faced by many people in Namibia who rely on daily medication but struggle to afford enough food. Taking certain HIV and epilepsy drugs without food can cause severe side effects or reduce their effectiveness.
Uirabβs appeal comes as food insecurity continues to affect vulnerable communities in the country. He is asking for any assistance that would allow him to take his medication consistently.
