Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen on Wednesday led the destruction of methamphetamine valued at Sh8.2 billion in Mombasa, underscoring the government's intensified efforts against drug trafficking. The consignment, seized in a recent operation, was incinerated at a facility in the coastal city.
Murkomen emphasized that the drug menace is severe and requires a unified approach. He stated that the government will collaborate more closely with the Judiciary to ensure that drug offenders face justice and that Kenyans are protected from the scourge.
The CS warned that drug barons will face the full force of the law, adding that no effort will be spared in dismantling trafficking networks. He also called on communities to support the fight by reporting suspicious activities.
The destruction of the Sh8.2 billion haul marks one of the largest seizures in recent years, reflecting ongoing efforts by security agencies to curb the flow of illicit drugs through Kenya's borders and coastal entry points.
