Moroccan forward Munir El Haddadi has expressed his hope that Morocco will reach the final of the 2026 FIFA World Cup and win the tournament. The 30-year-old, who plays for CD LeganeΜs in Spain's La Liga, made the statement in a recent interview, reflecting the growing ambition of Moroccan football after the national team's historic semifinal run in 2022.
Morocco will co-host the 2026 World Cup alongside Spain and Portugal, with matches scheduled across North America and Europe. The tournament, which will feature 48 teams for the first time, is set to kick off on June 11, 2026, with the final on July 19, 2026.
El Haddadi, who has represented Morocco since 2016, has scored 10 goals in 33 appearances for the national team. He was part of the squad that reached the semifinals in Qatar 2022, where Morocco became the first African and Arab nation to achieve that feat.
The 2026 World Cup will be the first to be hosted by three countries and the first to feature 48 teams. Morocco's inclusion as a co-host marks a historic moment for African football, as it will be the first time the continent hosts the tournament since South Africa in 2010.
