KARACHI: Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) senior leader Dr Farooq Sattar has approached the Sindh Information Commission seeking the release of the inquiry report and related official records of the Gul Plaza tragedy.

Accompanied by Advocate, Sattar filed a formal request under the Sindh Transparency and Right to Information Act 2016, demanding the commission direct the relevant authorities to provide the complete inquiry report and all associated documents.

The Gul Plaza tragedy, which occurred on September 24, 2012, in Karachi's Bolton Market area, resulted in the deaths of at least 258 people and injuries to over 50 others when a fire broke out in a multi-story building housing garment factories. The incident remains one of the deadliest industrial fires in Pakistan's history.
