Mossy Corner, a community garden located in Portland, Oregon, celebrated its 10th anniversary on May 5, 2026. The garden, which started as a small plot on a vacant lot, has grown to include over 50 raised beds, a greenhouse, and a composting station.
According to the garden's coordinator, Sarah Jenkins, the anniversary event featured a plant sale, workshops on sustainable gardening, and a potluck with contributions from local residents. 'We've seen tremendous support from the neighborhood over the past decade,' Jenkins said. 'Our volunteer base has tripled since 2020.'
The garden now produces over 2,000 pounds of vegetables annually, which are distributed to local food banks and participants. Mossy Corner also offers educational programs for schools and community groups, focusing on organic gardening and environmental stewardship.
