Since 2018, Moroccan research teams have participated in 152 projects under the Partnership for Research and Innovation in the Mediterranean Area (PRIMA), with six projects coordinated nationally. These efforts have secured €28.4 million in funding, according to official program data.
The PRIMA initiative, supported by the EU and Mediterranean partner countries, aims to develop innovative solutions for water management, agriculture, and food security in the region. Morocco's involvement has enabled the equipping of laboratories and the training of young researchers, strengthening the country's scientific capacity.
Recent achievements include advancements in sustainable agriculture and water efficiency, with Moroccan institutions collaborating with European and other Mediterranean partners. The program has also fostered knowledge exchange and technology transfer, contributing to regional research networks.
As of August 2026, PRIMA continues to support projects that address climate change challenges, with Morocco playing an active role in shaping the program's future priorities.
