Morocco's Permanent Representative to the United Nations in Geneva, Ambassador Omar Zniber, presided over the award ceremony for the 2026 Francophone Ambassadors Prizes on April 1, 2026. The event, held at the Palais des Nations, recognized the contributions of ambassadors from French-speaking countries to multilateral diplomacy and the promotion of Francophone values.
The awards are organized by the Geneva-based association "Les Prix des Ambassadeurs Francophones." This year's laureates included ambassadors from Senegal, Canada, and Switzerland, who were honored for their work in areas such as cultural diplomacy, humanitarian action, and international cooperation.
In his opening address, Ambassador Zniber emphasized the importance of the French language as a tool for peace and dialogue within international institutions. The ceremony was attended by numerous diplomats, international officials, and representatives of civil society.
The event underscores the active role of Morocco, under the leadership of King Mohammed VI, within the International Organization of La Francophonie. It also highlights Geneva's status as a major hub for multilateral diplomacy.
