Morocco's M'Goun UNESCO Global Geopark has formalized a twinning agreement with China's Longhushan UNESCO Global Geopark. The signing ceremony took place in Beni Mellal, Morocco, as confirmed by local authorities and UNESCO's Global Geoparks network. The pact aims to foster collaboration in geotourism, scientific research, and the promotion of geological heritage.

The M'Goun Geopark, located in the Central High Atlas mountains, was designated a UNESCO Global Geopark in 2014. It is renowned for its fossil sites, dinosaur tracks, and traditional Berber culture. The agreement specifically targets enhanced visibility and tourist attraction, with a focus on attracting visitors from the Chinese market.

Longhushan Geopark, a UNESCO site since 2007, is famous for its Danxia sandstone landforms, red cliffs, and its significance as a cradle of Taoism. The partnership is designed to facilitate the exchange of expertise in park management, sustainable development, and educational programs between the two geoparks.

This cooperation falls under the framework of UNESCO's Global Geoparks Network, which encourages such international partnerships to support conservation and local community development. Officials from both geoparks have expressed that the agreement will help share best practices in geoheritage preservation.
