Operation Marhaba 2026, the annual initiative to facilitate the summer return of Moroccans living abroad (MRE), officially launched on June 10, 2026. Authorities expect approximately 3.6 million MRE to travel to Morocco via sea and air routes during the peak season.
The operation involves coordination between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Mohammed V Foundation for Solidarity, and port authorities. Special measures include increased ferry capacity from European ports, dedicated reception areas, and streamlined customs procedures at major entry points like Tangier Med and Casablanca.
According to official statements, the government has allocated additional resources to ensure smooth transit, including health checkpoints and multilingual assistance teams. The operation is scheduled to run through mid-September 2026.
