Fouzi Lekjaa, president of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF), has expressed confidence ahead of an upcoming ruling by the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS). The case concerns a dispute over the organization of the final match of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
In statements reported by media, Lekjaa asserted that Morocco's legal dossier is built on solid and compliant evidence. "We have irrefutable evidence," he was quoted as saying, emphasizing that the federation's arguments are firmly grounded in the competition's regulations.
The dispute stems from the awarding of the hosting rights for the AFCON 2025 final. While Senegal was initially announced as the host nation for the tournament, a controversy emerged regarding the specific venue for the final match, leading to the legal challenge.
The CAS is expected to issue its final and binding decision on the matter imminently. The ruling will determine the host for the championship match of the continent's premier football tournament.
