Morocco's Direction Générale de la Sûreté Nationale (DGSN) announced that its national laboratory for forensic science and technology has obtained ISO/IEC 17025 accreditation for all its criminal expertise activities. The accreditation was granted by the Moroccan accreditation body (REMAA) and is internationally recognized.
ISO/IEC 17025 is the global standard for testing and calibration laboratories, ensuring technical competence and reliable results. The accreditation covers all areas of forensic analysis, including DNA, toxicology, ballistics, and document examination.
This achievement positions the DGSN laboratory among the few accredited forensic labs in Africa and the Arab region. It is expected to enhance the credibility of Morocco's judicial system and facilitate international cooperation in criminal investigations.
The accreditation process involved rigorous audits and proficiency testing, demonstrating the laboratory's commitment to quality and continuous improvement.
