Ahmed Reda Chami, Morocco's ambassador to the European Union, has called for an open, frank and serene dialogue with the EU on migration management, in a statement to the Maghreb Arabe Presse (MAP) news agency.
Chami said managing migration requires "daily operational engagement, constant dialogue and the search for common and lasting solutions." He was responding to a resolution adopted by the European Parliament concerning the Spanish enclaves of Ceuta and Melilla, which Morocco considers part of its territory.
The ambassador stressed that Morocco remains committed to cooperation with the EU on migration and reiterated the Kingdom's position on the two enclaves. The European Parliament resolution, which addressed the situation in Ceuta and Melilla, prompted Morocco's diplomatic response.
Chami's remarks underscore the ongoing diplomatic engagement between Morocco and the European Union on migration issues, with both sides seeking to maintain constructive relations despite differences over the status of the enclaves.
