According to the latest weather forecast from the General Directorate of Meteorology (DMN) for the week of August 17-23, 2026, Morocco will experience hot to relatively hot weather across the Oriental region, the Southeast, and the eastern and southern parts of the southern provinces. Daytime temperatures will remain high, especially in the interior and desert areas.
Meanwhile, the Oriental and the Atlas Mountains will see periods of atmospheric instability, leading to scattered thunderstorms, particularly in the afternoon and evening. These storms could bring heavy rainfall, hail, and strong gusts of wind, especially in the High Atlas and the eastern highlands.
Strong winds are also expected along the Mediterranean coast and in the Tangier region, with gusts reaching up to 60-70 km/h. The Strait of Gibraltar and the northern coast may experience rough seas, affecting maritime navigation.
In contrast, the Atlantic coastal areas, including Casablanca and Rabat, will enjoy more moderate temperatures with partly cloudy skies and a light sea breeze. Nighttime temperatures will drop noticeably in the Atlas and the interior, providing some relief from the daytime heat.
Authorities advise residents and travelers in affected areas to stay updated on weather alerts and take precautions against heat and sudden storms. Farmers in the Atlas region should be aware of potential hail damage to crops.
