Moroccan Minister of Foreign Affairs Nasser Bourita stated that the Morocco-US partnership is diversified and covers all sectors, thanks to the support of King Mohammed VI and President Donald Trump. He made the remarks during a press briefing following his talks in Rabat on May 1, 2026.
Bourita highlighted the strategic nature of the relationship, which includes cooperation in security, trade, and regional stability. The United States recognized Morocco's sovereignty over Western Sahara in 2020 under the Trump administration, a move that strengthened bilateral ties.
According to the U.S. State Department, Morocco is a key non-NATO ally and a major partner in counterterrorism efforts in North Africa. Trade between the two countries has grown under the U.S.-Morocco Free Trade Agreement, signed in 2004.
