Morocco's Minister of Transport and Logistics, Mohamed Abdeljalil, has detailed a new emergency plan to improve accessibility for people with disabilities in the public transport sector. The announcement was made in response to a parliamentary question, as reported by state media.

The comprehensive assistance initiative is being implemented in accordance with Decree No. 2.23.427, issued in May 2023, which rigorously regulates the rights of people with disabilities in the field of transport. The decree mandates accessibility standards across various modes of public transportation.

The emergency plan includes specific measures such as the acquisition of accessible buses, the adaptation of railway stations and ports, and the training of personnel to assist passengers with disabilities. The minister emphasized that this forms part of the government's broader strategy for social inclusion.

Authorities state that the plan is a direct response to the needs expressed by civil society organizations representing people with disabilities, aiming to address critical gaps in the current transport infrastructure.
