The Moroccan Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs has announced that the observation of the Shawwal crescent moon, marking the end of Ramadan and the beginning of Eid al-Fitr, will take place on the evening of Thursday, March 19, 2026. The ministry issued a statement detailing the procedure for the nationwide observation.

According to the ministry's communiqué, the observation will be conducted through a network of specialized committees across the country. These committees are tasked with verifying the sighting of the new moon to determine the official start of the Islamic month of Shawwal and the Eid holiday.

The announcement is a standard annual procedure in Morocco, where the Islamic calendar is determined by local moon sighting. The exact date for Eid al-Fitr celebrations will be confirmed only after the crescent is successfully sighted and verified by the official religious authorities.
