Morocco has been selected to host the 2026 U17 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), scheduled to take place in Casablanca from March 30 to April 19, 2026. The tournament will feature 16 teams competing for the continental title and qualification for the FIFA U17 World Cup.
The decision was announced by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) following an inspection visit that confirmed Morocco's readiness. This marks the first time Morocco hosts the U17 AFCON since 2018.
Morocco's national U17 team, the Atlas Lions, will aim to build on their recent performances, having reached the semifinals in the 2023 edition. The tournament also serves as a showcase for Morocco's growing football infrastructure ahead of potential future bids for larger events.
