The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has officially awarded Morocco the hosting rights for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON). The decision was announced on September 27, 2023, following the withdrawal of original host Guinea due to infrastructure and preparedness concerns.

Morocco, which had been scheduled to host the 2025 tournament before it was moved to 2027, will now host the event in 2025. The country possesses significant existing football infrastructure, including major stadiums in Casablanca, Rabat, and Marrakech, which were used during the 2023 FIFA Club World Cup.

The Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF), led by President Fouzi Lekjaa, played a pivotal role in securing the hosting rights. CAF President Patrice Motsepe cited Morocco's proven capabilities and readiness as key factors in the decision, ensuring the tournament's success.

The 2025 AFCON will be the 35th edition of the continental championship. Morocco last hosted the tournament in 1988 and was also the host nation for the 2013 and 2014 African Nations Championships.
