Moroccan Minister of Foreign Affairs, Nasser Bourita, stated that Morocco and Switzerland are building a 'trust-based partnership' reinforced by regular political dialogue. The statement was made during a joint press conference with Swiss Federal Councillor and Head of the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs, Ignazio Cassis, in Rabat on April 24, 2026.
Bourita emphasized the importance of this dialogue in strengthening bilateral relations, covering areas such as economic cooperation, sustainable development, and cultural exchanges. He noted that the two countries share common values and interests, which facilitate mutual understanding and collaboration.
The Swiss Federal Councillor, Ignazio Cassis, echoed Bourita's sentiments, highlighting the potential for increased trade and investment between the two nations. Cassis also praised Morocco's role as a stable partner in the region, particularly in North Africa and the Sahel.
Both officials agreed to continue their regular political consultations to address regional and international issues of common concern, including migration, security, and climate change. The meeting marks a further step in deepening the bilateral relationship, which has been characterized by growing cooperation in recent years.
