Morocco has switched its time zone from GMT to GMT+1, moving its clocks forward by one hour. The change occurred at 02:00 on Sunday, March 22, 2026, local time.
The shift marks the end of a period during which the country had suspended its seasonal clock changes. Morocco had maintained GMT (Greenwich Mean Time) year-round since 2018, abandoning the previous practice of switching between GMT and GMT+1.
The decision to reinstate the time change was announced by the Moroccan government earlier this month. Officials cited reasons including better alignment with international business partners and energy conservation during longer evening daylight hours.
The country is now expected to revert back to GMT in October 2026, resuming its previous biannual clock-changing schedule. Neighboring regions and international flight schedules have been adjusted to account for the change.
