Faouzi Lekjaa, President of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF), has confirmed that Morocco has formally submitted its bid to co-host the 2030 FIFA World Cup. The bid, presented jointly with Spain and Portugal, is supported by what Lekjaa described as "convincing and documented arguments."

The joint bid was officially submitted to FIFA in late 2025. Morocco's role in the tri-continental proposal is seen as a historic opportunity, potentially bringing the tournament back to Africa for the second time.

Lekjaa emphasized the strength of Morocco's infrastructure and organizational capabilities, which have been demonstrated through hosting major events like the 2022 FIFA Club World Cup and the 2023 African Nations Championship. The bid faces competition from a joint proposal by Argentina, Paraguay, and Uruguay.

A final decision on the host for the 2030 tournament is expected to be made by the FIFA Congress in 2026. The 2030 World Cup will mark the centennial edition of the competition.
