According to a recent note from the GMK Center, a steel industry analysis hub, Morocco's steel demand is projected to increase by 7-8% in 2026, reaching 2.75 to 2.82 million tons. This growth is attributed to ongoing infrastructure projects and a recovering construction sector.
The forecast also indicates that demand could surpass the 3 million ton threshold for the first time in 2027. This would mark a significant milestone for the North African country's steel market, which has been expanding steadily over recent years.
GMK Center's analysis highlights that Morocco's strategic investments in transportation, housing, and industrial facilities are key drivers of this demand. The country's position as a regional manufacturing hub also contributes to the positive outlook.
However, the note cautions that global steel price volatility and supply chain disruptions could pose risks to these projections. The center advises stakeholders to monitor these factors closely.
