The Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF) has officially rejected the FIFA Forward Enterprise project, a major reform initiative proposed by FIFA President Gianni Infantino. The decision was announced on August 1, 2026, during a meeting of the FRMF executive committee in Rabat.
The Forward Enterprise project aimed to overhaul FIFA's development programs, including a new governance structure and increased funding for member associations. However, it faced widespread criticism from national federations, who argued that the reform would concentrate too much power in FIFA's central administration and reduce the autonomy of member associations.
Morocco's rejection is significant, as the country is a prominent voice in African and global football. The FRMF's statement emphasized the need for transparent and inclusive decision-making processes within FIFA. Other federations, particularly from Africa and Asia, have also expressed reservations about the project, but Morocco is among the first to formally block it.
FIFA has not yet issued an official response to Morocco's decision. The project was scheduled for a vote at the next FIFA Congress, but with this opposition, its future remains uncertain. Analysts suggest that Infantino may need to revise the proposal to address the concerns raised by member associations.
