Morocco's tourism sector continued its robust recovery in early 2026, with the country welcoming nearly 6 million international visitors by the end of April, according to data from the Ministry of Tourism. This represents a significant increase compared to the same period in 2025, driven by improved air connectivity and promotional campaigns.
The ministry reported that tourist arrivals reached 5.9 million in the first four months of 2026, up 20% from 4.9 million in the same period of 2025. Key source markets included France, Spain, the United Kingdom, and Germany, with notable growth from North American and Asian travelers.
Tourism revenues also rose, contributing to the country's foreign exchange reserves. The government has set a target of 17.5 million tourists for the full year 2026, aiming to surpass pre-pandemic levels. The sector's recovery is supported by new flight routes and visa facilitation measures.
However, challenges remain, including global economic uncertainties and competition from other Mediterranean destinations. The ministry emphasized continued investment in infrastructure and digital marketing to sustain growth.
