Morocco's National Telecommunications Regulatory Agency (ANRT) announced on July 17, 2026, the launch of a tender for 5G frequency licenses. The move marks a significant step in the country's digital transformation, with commercial 5G services expected to begin in 2027.
The tender covers the 700 MHz, 2100 MHz, and 2600 MHz bands, which will be allocated to the three main operators: Maroc Telecom, Orange Maroc, and Inwi. The ANRT stated that the deployment will prioritize major cities including Casablanca, Rabat, Marrakech, and Tangier.
According to the ANRT, the 5G rollout is part of the 'Maroc Digital 2030' strategy, which aims to boost the digital economy and improve connectivity in rural areas. The regulator expects investments of over 10 billion dirhams (approximately $1 billion) over the next five years.
