Morocco is increasingly recognized as a significant player in the global silver market, according to recent industry reports. The country's mining sector, particularly in the Anti-Atlas region, has seen a surge in silver production, driven by both established mines and new exploration projects.
Data from the Moroccan Ministry of Energy, Mines and Environment indicates that silver output has grown steadily over the past five years, with 2025 production reaching approximately 12 million ounces. This positions Morocco among the top 15 silver-producing countries globally, alongside Mexico, Peru, and China.
Key companies like Managem and Aya Gold & Silver have expanded operations, with the latter's Zgounder mine ramping up production. The government has also introduced incentives to attract foreign investment in mineral processing and refining, aiming to capture more value from the silver supply chain.
Industry analysts note that Morocco's strategic location near European markets and its stable political environment make it an attractive hub for silver trading and refining. The country is also exploring opportunities in silver for industrial applications, including solar panels and electronics.
