Morocco's Party of Authenticity and Modernity (PAM) has won 97 seats in the country's parliamentary elections, according to provisional results announced by the Interior Ministry. The party, a member of the current governing coalition, secured the largest share of seats in the 395-member House of Representatives.
The Islamist Justice and Development Party (PJD), which had led the previous government, finished in fourth place. The results mark a significant shift in Morocco's political landscape, as the PJD had been the dominant force in parliament since 2011.
Other parties, including the National Rally of Independents (RNI) and Istiqlal, also secured seats, though final numbers are still being tallied. The Interior Ministry is expected to release complete results in the coming days.
The new parliament will be tasked with forming a government and addressing key issues such as economic recovery and social reforms. The election outcome could lead to a new coalition government, potentially excluding the PJD from power for the first time in a decade.
