At the 16th edition of the International Agriculture Show in Morocco (SIAM), held in Meknes from April 22-27, 2026, Morocco and Côte d'Ivoire strengthened their strategic agricultural partnership. The event featured a dedicated "Côte d'Ivoire Day," highlighting the West African nation's role as a key partner and guest of honor.
Officials from both countries signed a new framework agreement to enhance cooperation in agricultural training, research, and technology transfer. The partnership focuses on sharing expertise in sectors like arboriculture, market gardening, and water management to improve food security and sustainable development.
Côte d'Ivoire's Minister of Agriculture, Kobenan Kouassi Adjoumani, emphasized the mutual benefits of the alliance, noting Morocco's advanced agricultural techniques and Côte d'Ivoire's significant production capacities. The collaboration is seen as a model for South-South cooperation in Africa.
The agreements aim to facilitate knowledge exchange between Moroccan and Ivorian agricultural institutes and promote joint investment in agro-industry. This builds upon existing bilateral ties and aligns with broader continental agricultural development goals.
