Morocco national team coach Mohamed Ouahbi stated on Friday, May 15, 2026, that there will be “very few surprises” in the squad he selects for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Speaking on the public broadcaster SNRT, Ouahbi outlined the principles guiding his final roster decisions.
Ouahbi emphasized the need for a team capable of controlling matches without being locked into a single playing style. He stressed tactical adaptability as a key criterion for player selection, noting that the squad must be prepared for various opponents and game situations.
The coach did not reveal specific names but indicated that the core group of players who have been part of recent campaigns would form the backbone of the team. He also hinted at the inclusion of a few emerging talents who have impressed in domestic and international competitions.
Morocco, which made history by reaching the semifinals of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, is set to compete in Group F of the 2026 tournament, alongside Portugal, Iran, and the United States. The World Cup will be co-hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
