According to data from EastFruit and industry reports, Morocco confirmed its position as the third largest exporter of tomatoes globally in 2025. The country's tomato exports reached approximately 700,000 tons, generating revenues of around $900 million, marking a significant increase from previous years.
The growth was supported by expanded greenhouse production and improved logistics, allowing Moroccan tomatoes to compete effectively in European markets, particularly in France, the UK, and the Netherlands. Morocco's share of the global tomato export market rose to about 8% in 2025.
This achievement places Morocco behind only Mexico and the Netherlands in global tomato exports, surpassing traditional exporters like Spain and Turkey. The Moroccan Ministry of Agriculture highlighted the role of the 'Plan Maroc Vert' and subsequent agricultural strategies in boosting productivity and quality.
Industry experts note that Morocco's success is also due to favorable climatic conditions and strategic investments in irrigation and cold chain infrastructure. However, challenges remain, including water scarcity and competition from other Mediterranean producers.
