According to data from the Western Mediterranean Exporters' Association (BAİB), Morocco became the second-largest export market for forest products and wood derivatives from Turkey's Western Mediterranean region in the first four months of 2026. The North African country imported $12 million worth of goods, representing a significant share of the region's total exports in this sector.
The region, which includes Antalya, Isparta, and Burdur provinces, is a major hub for forest products such as timber, furniture components, and paper products. Morocco's increased purchases reflect growing demand for Turkish wood products in North Africa, driven by construction and manufacturing sectors.
Turkey's overall exports of forest products to Morocco have been rising steadily, with the Western Mediterranean region playing a key role. The top export destination for these products remains Iraq, followed by Morocco, according to BAİB data.
Industry analysts attribute Morocco's strong demand to competitive pricing and quality of Turkish wood products, as well as logistical advantages due to proximity. The trend is expected to continue as Morocco invests in infrastructure and housing projects.
