The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has shortlisted Morocco and Senegal as the final two candidates to host the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON). The decision follows the withdrawal of a joint bid from Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda, and a separate bid from Algeria.
Morocco, which hosted the 2022 FIFA World Cup, is considered a strong contender with its modern infrastructure. Senegal, the defending AFCON champion from 2021, is also a formidable candidate, having successfully co-hosted the 2022 African Nations Championship.
The host nation is expected to be announced by CAF in the coming months. The 2027 tournament will be the 35th edition of the continental championship.
