Morocco has announced significant progress in preparations for the 2026 Women's Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), with renovations at the Nid des Aigles stadium complex in Marrakech nearing completion. The venue, which will host several matches during the tournament, is undergoing upgrades to meet CAF standards, including expanded seating and improved facilities.
According to the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF), the project is on track for a December 2026 deadline, ahead of the tournament scheduled for July 2027. The Nid des Aigles, home to Kawkab Marrakech, will have a capacity of approximately 25,000 after renovations.
Morocco was awarded hosting rights for the 2026 WAFCON by CAF in 2024, marking the second consecutive edition hosted by the country after the 2022 tournament. The event will feature 12 teams, with the draw expected in early 2027.
