Morocco is moving forward with a significant data center project dedicated to artificial intelligence in the Casablanca-Settat region. The initiative, reported to involve an investment of approximately $1.2 billion, is part of the country's broader strategy to establish itself as a technological and digital hub in Africa.
The project is being developed by a consortium led by the Moroccan group Al Mada, in partnership with the American technology company NVIDIA and other international investors. It aims to build one of the largest AI data center complexes on the African continent, designed to meet the growing computational demands for AI development and services.
This development aligns with Morocco's national digital strategy, which includes major investments in digital infrastructure and cloud services. The government has implemented strategic planning policies to attract such high-tech investments, including the development of dedicated technology parks and incentives for foreign direct investment.
The data center is expected to enhance Morocco's digital economy, create skilled jobs, and provide advanced computing resources for regional businesses and research institutions. It represents a key step in the country's ambition to become a gateway for technology and data services connecting Europe and Africa.
