Morocco's banking sector recorded 39.8 million bank accounts by the end of 2025, according to official data from Bank Al-Maghrib. This marks a significant increase in financial inclusion across the country.
The figure represents a growth of approximately 5% compared to the previous year, driven by digital banking services and government initiatives to promote access to formal financial systems. The number of accounts includes both traditional and mobile banking solutions.
Bank Al-Maghrib's report highlights that the expansion is particularly notable in rural areas, where mobile banking has helped bridge the gap. However, the central bank continues to work on further reducing the unbanked population.
