A team of Moroccan high school students from the Mohammed VI Polytechnic University (UM6P) School in Benguerir has won an international robotics award. The team, named 'UM6P Robotics', secured the 'Best Design Award' at the FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC) held in Ankara, Turkey, from April 10-13, 2026.
The competition, a major global STEM event, saw participation from numerous international teams. The Moroccan team's robot was recognized for its innovative and efficient mechanical and software design, which performed well in the tournament's challenging game tasks.
This achievement highlights the growing capabilities of young Moroccan innovators in the fields of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). The students' success on an international stage like the FRC is seen as a significant milestone for robotics education in Morocco.
