Spanish authorities have intercepted a significant shipment of cannabis resin from Morocco, seizing 86 kilograms of the drug. The operation, conducted by the National Police, led to the arrest of eight individuals allegedly involved in the trafficking network.
The drugs were discovered hidden inside a vehicle that had arrived by ferry from the Moroccan port of Nador to Almería in southern Spain. Investigators believe the criminal organization was using the Almería coast as a key entry point for distributing the narcotics across Europe.
The arrests included both Spanish and Moroccan nationals. Police operations were carried out in the provinces of Almería and Granada, where several properties were searched. The investigation remains ongoing to identify other members of the network.
This seizure is part of ongoing efforts by Spanish law enforcement to combat drug trafficking routes across the Strait of Gibraltar, a common passage for narcotics originating in North Africa.
