Morocco's Professional Association of Wholesale Depositaries and Distributors of Butane Gas has announced the suspension of its planned strike action. The strike was initially scheduled for April 21 and 22, 2026.
The decision came after a meeting between the association's representatives and officials from the Moroccan government. The discussions aimed to address the distributors' grievances, which primarily concern their profit margins and operational conditions within the state-regulated sector.
Butane gas is a subsidized essential commodity for cooking and heating in millions of Moroccan households. The association stated that the suspension is to allow for further dialogue, averting potential supply disruptions.
The government has acknowledged the dialogue but has not yet detailed any specific agreements reached. Market observers note that the suspension provides a temporary reprieve while negotiations on the sector's economic model continue.
