Mono County and Cerro Coso Community College have launched the SOAR internship program, according to a news release from the college. The program aims to provide local students with paid internship opportunities in various county departments.
The SOAR program, which stands for Student Opportunities for Applied Research, is designed to give students hands-on experience in fields such as public administration, environmental science, and information technology. Interns will work on projects that benefit the community while earning academic credit and a stipend.
Eligible students must be enrolled at Cerro Coso Community College and maintain a minimum GPA. The program is funded through a grant from the California Community Colleges Chancellor's Office.
