The incident occurred on August 12, 2025, when Salinas, a 32-year-old construction worker, pulled a woman from a car that had crashed and caught fire on Interstate 84 near Twin Falls. His quick actions were credited with saving her life.
Money Metals Exchange, which regularly honors individuals who demonstrate exceptional bravery or community service, will present the award at a ceremony in Twin Falls on August 20, 2026. The company said the award recognizes Salinas's selfless act and aims to inspire others.
Salinas, who sustained minor injuries during the rescue, said he acted on instinct and did not consider himself a hero. The woman he saved, whose name has not been released, is recovering from her injuries.
