Mexico is drawing on Morocco's extensive experience in solar energy to advance its own renewable energy goals. The collaboration focuses on applying knowledge from Morocco's Noor Ouarzazate Solar Complex, one of the world's largest concentrated solar power plants, to a new project in Baja California.

The Noor Ouarzazate complex, located in the DrΓ’a-Tafilalet region, has a total installed capacity of 580 MW and uses both photovoltaic and concentrated solar power (CSP) with thermal storage technology. This allows it to provide electricity even after sunset, a key feature Mexico seeks to replicate to ensure grid stability.

This partnership is part of Mexico's broader strategy to increase its share of clean energy. The Baja California project aims to enhance energy security and reduce reliance on fossil fuels in the region. The technical exchange involves Moroccan engineers and institutions sharing operational insights and best practices gained from managing the large-scale Noor complex.

The cooperation underscores a growing trend of knowledge transfer in renewable energy between countries with similar climatic conditions. It highlights how established solar power hubs like Morocco's can support global energy transitions.
