Meta has officially denied rumors that it plans to introduce paid subscription plans for Instagram, Facebook, and WhatsApp. The company stated that the claims circulating online are false and that all three platforms will remain free to use.
In a statement to Reuters on May 28, 2026, a Meta spokesperson said: 'There are no plans to introduce paid versions of Instagram, Facebook, or WhatsApp. These claims are completely false.' The denial comes after a viral article suggested that Meta would launch 'Instagram Plus,' 'Facebook Plus,' and 'WhatsApp Plus' at $3.99 per month each.
Meta currently offers optional paid features, such as Meta Verified for business accounts, but core social networking and messaging services remain free. The company has not announced any changes to its business model.
