MAYNILAD Water Services Inc. (Maynilad) is strengthening its supply buffer and implementing system optimization measures following a weather bureau warning of a possible El Niño.
The company on Sunday said the optimization measures included enhancing water pressure management and leak detection to reduce non-revenue water, as well as adjusting operations to ensure adequate supply during dry months.
Maynilad serves the west zone of Metro Manila, including cities such as Manila, Quezon City, Makati, and Pasay. The company has invested in additional water sources and reservoir capacity to mitigate potential shortages.
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) earlier raised the possibility of El Niño developing in the coming months, which could lead to below-normal rainfall and affect water availability.
