Operation Marhaba 2026, the annual initiative to welcome Moroccans residing abroad (MRE), was officially launched on Wednesday, June 10, 2026, at the Tangier Med port. The operation is coordinated by the Mohammed V Foundation for Solidarity in partnership with various stakeholders, including the Ministry of Transport, the National Ports Agency, and local authorities.
The launch ceremony was chaired by the Wali of the Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima region, Mohamed Mhidia, and the director of the Mohammed V Foundation, Youssef El Kettani. The operation aims to facilitate the transit of MREs during the summer season, providing logistical support and social assistance at entry points.
At Tangier Med port, facilities have been set up to offer services such as rest areas, medical assistance, and guidance for travelers. The foundation has mobilized teams of social workers and volunteers to assist families, especially those with special needs. Similar services are also available at other ports and airports across Morocco.
In 2025, the operation facilitated the passage of over 3 million MREs through Moroccan ports. For 2026, authorities expect a similar or higher number, given the ongoing improvements in infrastructure and services. The operation will run until mid-September 2026.
