MANILA, Philippines — President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. said on Thursday that 13 pumping stations in and around Metro Manila would be completed by this year or early next year, according to a report from the Presidential Communications Office.
During an inspection of the Tripa De Gallina Pumping Station in Pasay City, Marcos said the projects aim to mitigate flooding in the capital region. The Tripa De Gallina station is one of the key flood-control facilities being upgraded.
The President did not specify which stations are included in the 13, but the Department of Public Works and Highways has been implementing various flood-control projects across Metro Manila. The completion of these stations is expected to improve drainage and reduce flood risks in low-lying areas.
Marcos also emphasized the importance of maintaining and modernizing existing pumping stations to ensure their efficiency during heavy rains. The government has allocated funds for the repair and rehabilitation of several pumping stations in the metropolis.
