BUFFALO -- The Toronto Maple Leafs selected forward Gavin McKenna with the No. 1 pick in the 2026 Upper Deck NHL Draft at KeyBank Center on Friday, according to NHL.com.
McKenna, 18, is a left wing who played for the Medicine Hat Tigers of the Western Hockey League. He was widely considered the top prospect available in the draft after a standout junior career.
The pick continues an offseason overhaul for the Maple Leafs, who also made significant roster changes earlier in the summer. The team did not immediately announce contract terms for McKenna.
