The Manitoba government has selected a construction manager for the new CancerCare Manitoba facility, according to an announcement made on July 30, 2026. The project, which aims to consolidate cancer care services in the province, will be managed by a consortium led by PCL Constructors Canada Inc.
The new facility, to be located at the Health Sciences Centre campus in Winnipeg, is expected to improve patient care by bringing together various cancer services under one roof. The province has allocated $500 million for the project, which is slated for completion in 2030.
Health Minister Uzoma Asagwara stated that the selection marks a significant step forward in delivering modern, accessible cancer care for Manitobans. The construction manager will be responsible for overseeing the design and build phases, with early works expected to begin later this year.
CancerCare Manitoba currently operates out of multiple locations, and the new facility aims to address capacity issues and enhance the patient experience. The project is part of a broader provincial health infrastructure plan.
