Manchester United have reportedly joined Barcelona and Real Madrid in the race to sign Atletico Madrid forward Julian Alvarez, according to AS journalist Marcos Duran. The Red Devils are said to be contemplating a summer move for the Argentine international, who is valued at around €200 million by his club.
However, the reported fee makes a transfer highly unlikely. Julian Alvarez, 26, joined Atletico Madrid from Manchester City in 2024 for a reported €75 million, plus add-ons. He has a contract with Atletico until 2029, and the club is under no pressure to sell.
While Manchester United are in need of attacking reinforcements, a €200 million bid would shatter their transfer record and seems improbable given their recent financial constraints. The club has not commented on the speculation.
