Reserve guard Maya Caldwell scored a team-high 16 points to lead a balanced Minnesota Lynx attack in a 100-72 victory over the expansion Toronto Tempo on Thursday night at Target Center.
The Lynx (3-1) had six players score in double figures, including Napheesa Collier with 14 points and 8 rebounds, and Kayla McBride with 13 points. Bridget Carleton added 12 points, while Alanna Smith and Diamond Miller each contributed 10.
Toronto (0-4), playing its first season in the WNBA, was led by Kia Nurse with 18 points and Aaliyah Edwards with 14 points and 7 rebounds. The Tempo shot 38% from the field and committed 17 turnovers.
Minnesota built a 54-38 halftime lead and never looked back, shooting 52% from the floor and dishing out 26 assists on 38 made field goals. The Lynx bench outscored Toronto's reserves 42-24.
