The Libyan Business Council (LBC) has announced the establishment of a joint business council with Morocco. The decision was formally taken by the LBC's president on March 26, 2026, aiming to strengthen bilateral economic relations.
The new council is intended to facilitate trade and investment between the private sectors of both nations. It will focus on removing barriers to business and promoting joint ventures, particularly in sectors like agriculture, construction, and renewable energy.
This initiative is also framed within the context of broader African economic integration, seeking to leverage the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA). The move follows a period of diplomatic engagement between Libya and Morocco, which has included discussions on economic partnership.
The Libyan Business Council stated that the joint body will work to organize trade missions and business forums. The first official meeting of the joint council is expected to be scheduled in the coming months.
